This spell functions as the fire trap spell, except the sphere can absorb fire damage up to 10 times your wizard level. In addition when the spell ends you can choose if the fire is harmlessly dispersed to the elemental plane of fire, or is discharged in a destructive explosion as per the fire trap spell.
