As part of the action used to cast this spell, you thrust a hand or melee weapon. A lance of flames emerges from the tip of the weapon. Make a ranged spell attack against a creature or object within 15 feet. On a hit, the target takes 3d8 fire damage.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, you increase the damage by 1d8 for each slot level higher than 1st.
